About the Artist
Known for his unique hallmark style combining elements of realism, stylization and abstraction, Andrew Denman is at the forefront of an artistic vanguard of the best contemporary wildlife and animal painters working today.
Though his inspiration always begins with nature, the artist’s work presents animals through a conceptual and interpretive, rather than an objective and natural historical, lens. Denman’s subjects are nearly always disassociated from their natural environments; seen in a non-objective context and arranged in unexpected and fanciful ways, viewers are forced to reconsider what we think we know about our wild neighbors.
Denman’s work has toured nationally with Andrew Denman: The Modern Wild, Birds in Art, and the Society of Animal Artists. Denman’s work can be found at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and the Nature in Art Museum in England. He is currently represented by Astoria Fine Art, WY, Sanders Galleries, AZ, Gallery by the Lakes, and Gladwells Stamford in the UK.
